The Revival by Steve Grahm
Centuries have passed since The Sundering, an apocalyptic event that left the planet mostly dead.
Before The Sundering, there was a race of godly beings known as The Primordials, who could control and manipulate the elements. To the last, they sacrificed themselves to save humanity; but their magic remained, now passed down to humans in a limited manner by the Keepers of Essence. Essence rules the flow of agriculture, trade, politics, and war.
The world is now comprised merely of islands; affiliated under King Paragon but otherwise mostly disconnected, sans The Revival: A gargantuan, self-sustaining ship that supports trade throughout the kingdom of islands. When a series of barbaric genocides happen at the far reaches of the kingdom by an unknown enemy, the king sends Prince Eric Paragón, heir to the throne (and, frankly, an insufferable individual), aboard The Revival with her infamous captain, Elias Thorne, to discover what evil has been wrought upon them.
